What are Relationships?
Relationships in Simply Stakeholders refers to the connections that stakeholders have with other record types. The goal is to understand not just who is involved, but how they are connected and why those connections matter.
What type of Relationships can be identified?
Stakeholder Relationships - Show the network of connections you have within your stakeholder database. This could be simple information like understanding the position a stakeholder has within an organisation, or be something more complex like the nature of relationships between multiple stakeholders within a government department or community.
Property Relationships - Identify who is connected to the parcel of land you are tracking. The property relationships can vary from Owners, Tenants, Managing agents, Lawyers etc.
Interaction Relationships - This refers to the stakeholders who are involved in the communication or engagement activity. This could be the individual, organisation or property record.
How can I view Relationships?
Network Map
There are different ways to explore Relationships in Simply Stakeholders. From the Stakeholder page, clicking into Relationships tab will take you directly to the Network Map, from here, you will be able to visualise the connections that this stakeholder has.
In the example below, what we are looking at is the record of Helen Williams. Helen is connected to multiple Organisation's, she is the Founder of Whitestone Residents' Voice, and Hailey Rowan reports to her directly, she is her Executive Assistant. In blue, it shows us Helen is also a baker at a local bakery and a representative of the GreenFuture Environmental Group.
On the right we see she shares a connection with other Individuals, Jesse and Peter, and we know that internally, she is being managed by Joi and Katie; this is shown in green.

List View
We can also view the Relationships in a list, and from this view you can add additional information such as a stakeholders position (job title) within an organisation and who they report to, their division, or their defined relationship with other stakeholders.
In the example below, you will be able to see the same information about Helen from the list view.

If the stakeholder is linked to any Properties, the address will be in the Property list view, where you will also be able to see if there are any other stakeholders linked to the property.
In the example below, we can see that Helen owns one property we are tracking.

Geographic Map
When you have stakeholders that have a relationship with one or more properties, these can be viewed on a geographic map, and this can be helpful to see where that property is in relation to your project area. To open the map, click on the map icon.
In the example below, we can see that the project area is identified in blue, and our stakeholder Helens' property is outside of the affected area.

Interactions
Identifying who is involved in your interactions and engagement history ensures accountability, provides a clear record of who was informed or involved in decisions, and supports effective relationship and engagement tracking. It also helps with continuity, follow-up, and compliance in reporting or audits.
From the Interactions page, you will find the Relationships section has the list view of all stakeholders and properties, as well as the map to show the location of the properties.
